BIG STORIES SMALL CAST  by Get Up

Get Up specializes in playing multi-character narrative shows, which involves each of the two actors playing several characters, sometimes in the same scene. This workshop will focus on transitions, characterization, narration techniques, sound design, and other elements that allow a small cast to embody a cast much much larger.

MUSICAL DE LA CRÈME by Stockholms Improvisationsteater

Advanced

Teacher: Per Gottfredsson
Musician: Kettil Medelius

We are going to work on a musical format we call "De la Creme". It’s a longform musical without a traditional long story: Scenes with song, dance and music are connected to each other through environment, space, time, people. It allows the improvisors to be more free and in the moment. It’s a form where we can mix different stiles of music with tragic and comic scenes from peoples ordinary life.

Saturday 30th of January

VOCAL IMPROVISATION by Sonja Vilč

Open to all levels

From sound effects to acapella and back!
How can we release our vocal potential and explore different sounds we can produce with our bodies? In the workshop open to all levels, we will plunge into the world of DIY sounds, learn how to put them together into improvised compositions and insert them into character and scene work.

USING TURKISH TRADITIONAL THEATREFORS in improv - IstanbulImpro

Basic/ Intermediate

The session starts with warming-up games including traditional games. It continues with the explanations of games that we developed ourselves from traditional forms into improv:  different storytelling styles, storybuilding with audience participation (e.g. the Tarot deck, Coffeeleave reading, etc.)

Learn new formats and get an idea of how to create simple games from your own culture, in order to enrich your improvisational repertoire!

The most important achievement of this workshop is asking questions about different traditional forms if they can be used in improv (same as given on Friday).

LONG FORM LABORATORY: AN INTRO by Jim Libby

Intermediate

You like improvising on stage and have been doing it for a while?
You’ve learned some skills; know how to play a few of “The Games” but are wondering, “What comes next?” Well, how about learning to do it longer!?!?

In this workshop we will explore the basics of “Long Form Improvisation”:From the fundamental “Ideologies of Impro” to Ensemble-Work to basic Story-Telling. We’ll also take a look at the workings and history of “Classic Long Form Formats” to see where Impro has gone and where we might take it.
The goals of this workshop are: To have a basic understanding of what Long Form is and can be, to inspire performers to explore, question and create, and to have a whole lot of fun while doing it!

SPECIAL EFFECTS FOR IMPROV by Get Up

Intermediate

Get your improv closer to the kind of movies, TV, and shows you love. Transport the audience by expanding the physical world of the performance. Tell stories with action as well as words. When you learn how to create special effects in improv, you will have no excuse for playing another generic living room scene. Learn how to conduct car chases, battle scenes, climbs and drops, chases on foot, zip lines, and much more in this fun, physical, and practical class!

PERSONAL FILES by Stockholms Improvisationsteater

 Advanced

Teacher: Janne Berg
Musician: Kettil Medelius
Welcome to a workshop of the show Personal files! 'Personal file' is a showformat that we have played on Stockholm Improvisation Theater for 7 years. In each show, a guest (usually known by the audience) tells us about his/her life with the ups and downs. This creates a fund for the improvisers to play around.
This is a show where you have the chance to get away from the return to traditional 'be improfunny’ and make scenes with greater depth than usual.

In this workshop we will examine how and why people play this exciting concept of improvisational theatre. We are practical and have fun while we explore the concept of opportunity.
